A
Little About Me
When I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to breastfeed my
baby. I read enough to know that it was best for both baby and mom,
plus it seemed like the most natural way to feed and comfort my
baby. I was surprised at how much I loved breastfeeding! Of course,
there were times that I was confused and frustrated (I was a new
mother, after all). I decided to become a volunteer breastfeeding
counselor, and have been leading breastfeeding support groups and
helping moms for over six years. As I learned more about the
science of breastfeeding, I became more convinced that I wanted to
work in this field. My previous work had been in marketing,
management, and education, and I felt that this was an opportunity
to combine my passion for breastfeeding with those other skills and
experiences.
I completed a lactation internship at a hospital and took (and
passed) the board exam. I continue to work part-time at a hospital,
but also enjoy seeing mothers and babies in their homes, where I
can spend more time helping them solve their breastfeeding
problems. I love my work!
